Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and many other stable religions have a sacred text or book that contains the written laws and history of the religion. Animism has no such book, and it has no system of ethics, either. People who believe in animism must create an ethical code for their own life; it is not provided by the religion. The one true reason religion exists is to provide hope. Many religions promise eternal life or salvation, whereas animism does not.
