Rituals

All animistic cultures have their own unique rituals. For example, the Cherokee Native American tribe have ceremonies called pow-wows. Their purpose is similar to a church service. The Cherokees hold many small and informal pow-wows during the year, but around Labor Day there is a large formal pow-wow. It is called the Cherokee National Holiday. It lasts a week and Cherokees from all over the United States participate. There is an event held to commemorate the spirits for the safe passage of Cherokees who survived the Trail of Tears. Many Cherokees died on this trail when the government forced them to leave their land.
